2017 CRESTA & GAMAKATSU sponsored UK Angling Championship winner Pemb Writing is congratulated on his win by series organiser Nigel Harrhy.

Pemb scored a perfect 4 straight section wins to win the event convincingly from some of the countrys top anglers.  Closest challengers Pete Bailey & Nick Speed crashed with 4th & 5th in sections when they had to win to challenge Pemb who already hadn't dropped a point all year.

See the Results page for full leaderboard.

Nigel Harrhy said "Massive congratulations to Pemb, he has figured in the top 10 consistently over the last 5 or so years with a previous best 3rd overall, and I couldn't have wished it on a nicer guy and top angler such as Pemb.

I would like to thank all of the guys who have fished the championship over the last 8 years that I have been running it, and as this is my last match in charge, I would like to wish the new organisers Pete Bailey and Andy Kinder all the best for 2018.

Anyone wishing to take part next year, please keep an eye on the website and Facebook page for an announcement of how to enter."

The main rounds are covered by BT sports and the programs will be aired across the BT sport network throughout the summer with back up coverage on YouTube.

The tournament is the longest running and most historic match series in the country having kicked off in 1984. Previous winners are the likes of Stan Piecha, Dick Clegg, Alan Scothorne and Tommy Pickering plus modern day hotshots Grant Albutt, Andy Power and of course last years winner Jon Arthur. However, it’s not just the big names that end up at the top of the pile. Over the years a succession of “unknowns” have made history by lifting the title making it a truly magnificent series for both amateur and professional alike.
